Trauma-Sensitive Yoga

with Cayla Schafer, TCTSY-F, RYT

Cayla brings her Undergraduate degree in Psychology + 500 hour RYT training to her Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Certification.  She has publicly and privately taught different styles of Yoga since 2010 in and around the Toronto area. Her deep investment in Yoga + TCTSY is largely due to her own past experiences with Trauma, and in learning how to find strength and stability in the practice of choice-making + movement on and off the mat. When she is not teaching TCTSY, Cayla has founded her own organization centered around Movement + Mental health,  Move To Heal Project, and can be found teaching and organizing various events across the city, starting conversations and raising awareness on Mental Health issues.  Cayla will be offering private sessions on Saturdays at the Port Credit Therapy Centre and can be reached at traumasensitiveyoga@gmail.com.

Trauma-sensitive yoga is a traditional yoga which has been adapted for work with individuals who have been affected by trauma. The goal of TSY is for trauma survivors to develop a greater sense of mind-body connection, ease their physiological experiences of trauma, gain a greater sense of ownership over their bodies, and augment their overall well-being.
